What is the name of the technology you use?

The core technology behind our electricity-generating wood-burning stoves is called Thermoelectrics. You may hear other words used like thermocouples, TEGs, or the Peltier-Seebeck effect. These terms all revolve around the direct conversion of temperature differences to voltage.

In BioLite products, we capture waste heat from your cooking fire and convert it into usable electricity using a Thermoelectric Generator (a TEG) located in your stove's orange Power Pack (or on the base of your KettleCharge). This is a solid state converter, meaning there are no moving parts, making it a great durable choice for an outdoor product.
